The National Agency for Petroleum, National Gas and Biofuels (Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis – ANP) has updated its table of authorized biofuel production capacity in Brazil. Three things struck me immediately from reading this table: (1) the geographic spread — by my count, there are now biofuel plants in half of the Brazilian states; (2) the enormous lead in installed capacity held by center-west state Goiás (GO) — 738.3 cubic meters per day (m3/d); (3) how little of that capacity has yet to be fully utilized.
