Three Rivers

Just read a nice review of the 3 Rivers Eco-Lodge in Dominica in today’s Washington Post (if you want to read the online version, you have to register, but it’s free to do so).
3 Rivers is a good example of the small, rustic variety of Green Globe-certified lodging one can find in Latin America and the Caribbean, and quite an interesting one at that! Their power needs are supplied by solar panels, a wind turbine and micro-hydro. Their delivery truck runs on vegetable oil. They utilize solar water heaters and efficient lighting. They recycle/compost. Their cleaning products are organically-made. Some of the lodging is constructed from bamboo and woven lemon grass. Their cooking stoves presently run on natural gas, but they’re working on switching them to biogas.
