Interesting article in yesterday’s Washington Post. It describes how Greenpeace started out attacking McDonald’s for “complicity” in deforestation of the Brazilian Amazon, but ended out teaming with McD’s to pressure Cargill and Brazilian soy traders into adopting a moratorium on soy from newly deforested lands. Just the accompanying picture of Greenpeace activists and McD’s execs together in a narrow boat going up the Amazon makes it worth looking up! Wink While I applaud that the two decided to work together in this instance, this case also suggests that sometimes (perhaps many times?) Greenpeace is a bit too quick to attack and assume the worst of their corporate “targets.” How many valuable potential allies have they alienated that way? Food for thought….
