 Mexico: Veracruz Adopts Waste Law
On 09 June 2004 the Mexican state of Veracruz adopted a comprehensive waste law. Among other things, the Law requires producers and distributors of products that become wastes to (1) redesign their products and production processes to reduce waste; (2) utilize technologies that permit the use of materials that can be reused, recycled or biodegraded; (3) inform consumers about the reusability, recyclability or biodegradability of their products. Producers and distributors of products that become "special wastes" at end-of-life (EOL) must prepare waste management plans for their product sector for review by authorities.
