 Brazil: Law on Biodiesel Adopted
 On 13 January 2005 Congress converted the December 2004 Provisional Measure on biodiesel into law, but with changes (requiring the Bank of Brazil, Bank of Northeast Brazil, Bank of Amazonia and the National Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDE) to create special lines of credit) that were promptly line-item vetoed by President Lula. The law authorizes the voluntary sale of biodiesel over the next three years, but makes obligatory 2% minimum biodiesel content in all diesel fuel sold as of 13 January 2008.
