On 22 September 2005 the Bolivian congress approved a law on the use of biodiesel. The law calls for biodiesel to be sold with a mixture of 2% vegetable oil component for the first two years after the law takes effect, to be raised gradually to 20% by 2015 on a schedule to be set by authorities. The law also provides tax benefits to projects contributing to biodiesel production.
